Deploy

Executing pilots is a crucial undertaking towards the deployment of automated driving in series cars. Besides evaluating SAE Level 3 and 4 functions, we pursue other tasks bringing us closer to realise automated driving in daily traffic. We look into guidelines for the development of automated driving functions, create a Europe-wide piloting environment and focus on user needs during the project runtime.

Code of Practice

We will provide a comprehensive guideline with best practices for the development of automated driving functions, the Code of Practice for automated driving.

We collect best practices on relevant topics.

We describe a typical development process for an automated driving function and include hands-on checklists.

We include safety aspects and methods to confirm a safe operation of automated driving functions.

Europe-wide piloting environment

We create a harmonised Europe-wide piloting environment for automated driving. Standardising the test sites in terms of compliance with automated driving testing, we prepare Europe for large-scale field operational tests (FOTs) of automated functions in series cars.

User studies

L3Pilot will provide an annual quantitative survey about user acceptance and attitudes towards Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and vehicle automation.

Find out more in the project report that will be published during the lifetime of the project.

Business studies

We will develop business scenarios for the functions and services to further specify emerging trends, define indicators, analyse user needs and discuss all relevant aspects of market introduction for automated applications.

Social aspects such as user attitudes or willingness to pay.

Economic and commercial issues, e.g. new innovation platforms.

Legal conditions, such as liability issues.
