The Special Interest Session “Large-scale testing of Automated Driving on public roads: challenges and first lessons learned” organized by L3Pilot Coordinator, Aria Etemad, Volkswagen, has been admitted by the International Programme Committee (IPC).

The session introduces international perspectives providing insights on methodological questions on test design, subjects and data management, safety and other societal impacts and constraints in assessing them. The definition and key aspects of a common testing methodology as well as the implementation of the methodology to investigate the impacts of automated driving functions in variable traffic conditions, and study technical robustness and cyber‐security of the automatic driving system will be covered in the presentations. The challenges and lessons learned in validating the testing methodology for automated driving systems for common use will also be discussed.
