L3Pilot @ heise online news

Adrian Zlocki, representing L3Pilot partner ika, was interviewed by heise online at the Automated Vehicles Symposium 2018 in San Francisco, USA in July.

During the interview Zlocki talked about the upcoming L3Pilot public pilot tests. In total, 100 automated vehicles and 1000 test drivers will soon be on the roads of ten European countries. The project focuses on large-scale piloting of SAE Level 3 functions, with additional assessment of some Level 4 functions. This means testing and evaluating conditionally or highly automated in-vehicle technologies.The technologies being tested cover a wide range of driving situations, including parking, overtaking on highways and driving through urban intersections.

According to Zlocki it is special to the L3Pilot project that the data is collected in real driving situations on public roads with the help of sensors and cameras monitoring the behavior of the driver, the vehicle and the other road users. The tests will provide valuable information for evaluating the technical aspects of automated driving, user acceptance, driving and travel behaviour, as well as impacts on traffic and safety.
