L3Pilot hosts a Special Interest Session @ ITS World Congress 2018
During the ITS World Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 17 to 21 September 2018, L3Pilot partners will present their research in Special Interest Sessions SIS45 and in Technical Session TS55.
SIS45 Challenges on Testing and Validation of Automated Driving
The session “SIS45 Challenges on Testing and Validation of Automated Driving” will mainly present results from L3Pilot, but also from the projects PROSPECT(→external link) and PEGASUS (→external link). It will take place on Wednesday 19 September 2018 from 09:00 to 10:30 in the room Berlin.
Testing and validation of automated driving functions and vehicles are considered key topics expected to boost automated driving implementation. A safe deployment of automated vehicles involves the definition of a comprehensive methodology to verify and validate whether vehicles comply with regulatory and technological requirements. This session will provide an overview of the testing activities of automated driving functions on public roads across Europe and the ongoing evaluation work. A major European contribution comes from the flagship research project L3Pilot that tests automated driving functions of SAE levels 3 and 4 on public roads, including cross-border activities.
Project Coordinator Aria Etemad, Volkswagen AG, organises the session in cooperation with Sarah Metzner, Dissemination Manager at EICT GmbH. Angelos Amditis, research director at the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems ICCS, will moderate it.
The speakers of the session and their topics are:
- Yves Page, Senior Project Manager, Groupe Renault, Pilot preparation and functions.
- Satu Innamaa, Principal Scientist, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd., Methodology for piloting, testing and evaluation of automated driving systems.
- Adrian Zlocki, fka, Evaluation results from PEGASUS (TBC).
- Andrés Aparicio, Senior manager at Applus IDIADA, product manager of ADAS/AD, Evaluation results VRU scenarios PROSPECT.
- Andreas Knapp, Senior Project Manager, Daimler AG, Code of Practice for Automated Driving functions.
TS55 Impact Evaluation
