L3Pilot in the focus of 2nd EUCAD conference

The largest European project L3Pilot on automated and connected driving was attracting great interest at the EUCAD conference in Brussels, Belgium, on 2-3 April 2019. Keynote speaker Timo Pesonen, Director General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (GROW), European Commission, highlighted the importance of L3Pilot with respect to Europe taking the lead in CAD development and deployment.

During the evening reception at the Autoworld Museum, the L3Pilot partners Volkswagen, Renault and Toyota presented five fully equipped L3Pilot test vehicles. Clara de la Torre, Director DG Research & Innovation, European Commission and Jacob Bangsgaard, CEO Ertico welcomed the guests and L3Pilot caught a lot of attention during the VIP Tour.

On the second conference day, Aria Etemad, Volkswagen AG, discussed key aspects related to large-scale testing of Automated Driving in Europe in a session providing insights from L3Pilot and the experiences of the project partners regarding data handling and user perspective.

Along with the EUCAD 2019, the project communicated a major milestone by publishing a press release: In early March 2019, L3Pilot test vehicle owners started driving tests on public roads.
