L3Pilot @ Virtual EUCAD 2021

L3Pilot successfully participated in this year’s EUCAD “Yes, we CCAM!”. The third European Conference on Connected and Automated Driving was held virtually from 20 to 22 April 2021.

In the morning of the opening day on April 20, Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth gained hands-on experience on the project’s progress by participating in a driving demonstration organised by L3Pilot partner Toyota (TME). The TME car drove through the city of Brussels on the regular test field of TME. “Connected, Cooperative & Automated Mobility has enormous potential to make mobility safer & more efficient,” states Gabriel on Twitter(→ external link).  

As one of the major exhibitors, L3Pilot offered attendees to update on general L3Pilot progress and achievements in virtual 1:1 meetings supported by material provided online. Please find the video prepared for the EUCAD here.

Aria Etemad, Volkswagen AG, L3Pilot Co-ordinator spoke during Plenary Session 2 ‘Automated Road Transport: From Horizon 2020 to Horizon Europe’ on 20 April 2021. Angelos Amditis, ICCS, ERTICO Chairman also discussed the transition towards the new CCAM challenges within the main sessions. 

Satu Innamaa, VTT, moderated Breakout Session 3 ‘After the Corona pandemic: new perspectives for CCAM and Quality of Life?’.

Luisa Andreone, Stellantis-CRF, discussed the question ‘Key Vehicle Technologies for CCAM: Is the level of maturity sufficient for high-level automation?’ during Breakout Session 4.

Adrian Zlocki, fka, moderated Breakout Session 11 focusing on the question ‘Scenarios for validation: what data sources do we need?’. Contributions came from Barbara Metz, WIVW, talking about the L3Pilot evaluation methodology, and Felix Fahrenkrog, BMW Group.
